Pair of Consecutive Year Western Golf Association Junior Amateur Contestant Badges from 1940 and 1941

First played in 1914 at Chicago Golf Club, the Western Junior is the oldest national junior golf championship in the United States – predating the U.S. Junior by 34 years The 1940 contest was played at Mill Road Farm Golf club. The 1941 tournament was played at Iowa State College. Both tournaments were won by Ben Downing. The Mill Farm Road Golf Club was an exclusive Club designed by William Flynn for the Albert Lasker Mill Farm Road estate in Lake forest IL. It had a very short history (1927-1942) and was played on by invitation only. Thus, a badge from there is very uncommon The badges have the venue noted on the front of the medals. Interestingly there was a slight change to the 1941 medal with the addition of green enamel surrounding the WGA emblem. Junior golf badges are much less prevalent than the regular WGA open and amateur championship contestant badges. Here is an opportunity to acquire two of them with the Mill Farm Road badge being likely to be one of the few remaining artifacts associated with the course
