Kargo Card Golf Game by Castell Brothers Ltd Pepys Series circa 1930s
This is a vintage card game titled Kargo (or Card Golf), published by Castell Brothers Ltd. of London as part of the Pepys Series. The set includes a deck of specialized playing cards and a small paper-bound instructional booklet. The cards feature stylized, dual-ended illustrations reminiscent of traditional face cards, depicting various golf strokes and game situations such as Drive 240, Iron 180, Mashie 60, Spoon 170, Niblick 30, Sunk Putt, Missed Putt, Bad Bunker, Stymie, Lost Ball, and Out of Bounds. The card backs are printed with a red and white radial graphic design containing the Kargo Card-Golf title and the Pepys brand logo. The instructional booklet includes rules for two to four players and reference tables on pages 14 and 15 listing hole lengths at famous British golf courses, including St. Andrews, Prestwick, Hoylake, Sandwich, Muirfield, Deal, Westward Ho, and Gleneagles. The booklet identifies the makers as Pepys Stationery and states the item was made in England.
