Collection of British Golf Collectors Society The Open Championship Commemorative Booklets 1983-2003
Collection of 15 commemorative booklets and limited edition pamphlets primarily published for the British Golf Collectors Society, documenting The Open Championship from 1983 through 2003. The assortment features covers in various colors including green, burgundy, orange, pink, yellow, cream, and grey. Several early editions are designated as limited print runs of 90, 100, or 125 copies. The booklets identify various historic host courses such as Royal Birkdale, Muirfield, Royal St. George's, Turnberry, St. Andrews, Royal Lytham & St. Annes, Royal Troon, and Carnoustie.
Publishing and presentation information visible on the back covers includes Grant Books of Victoria Square, Droitwich, Worcestershire; Severnside Printers Limited of Upton-upon-Severn; and Hughes & Company Printers of Kempsey, Worcestershire.
Handwritten notations appear on the back covers of multiple items. Many are signed Shirley Grant and include hand-inked copy numbers such as No. 71, No. 97, No. 102, No. 104, No. 58, No. 94, No. 103, and No. 15. Later editions bear the signature of H.R.J. Grant, with some also signed by Alan Jackson, who is credited as the compiler for several volumes. One volume is inscribed Presented by the Captain H.R.J. Grant..
