Bobby Jones Signed 1930 British Open Currier & Ives Lithograph - Framed JSA ALOA
Showcased here is an original limited edition lithograph 1930 Bobby Jones signed Currier & Ives print. Titled "Robert Tyre Jones Jr. Winning the British Open Golf Championship". The work illustrates Jones on the green before the Royal and Ancient Golf Club clubhouse, with a large gallery of spectators and a central inset medallion of the golfer mid-swing. First edition of 999 prints published and copyrighted by Currier & Ives, Inc., 1930.
This collection centerpiece depicting Bobby Jones sinking the winning putt in the 1927 British Open at St. Andrews carries a full signature from Robert T. Jones Jr. which is spectacular in its self. What takes this highly sought after item to the next level is that the perfectly placed, equal formation, time-period flowing 'RTJ Slant' fountain pen signature comes in uninscribed format with nine out of ten of these prints, when autographed by Bobby Jones, coming with a personalization. Print is laid down on green and gold colored framing matte with deluxe framed finish. It is a color lithograph on paper that is based on the original drawing by James W. Williamson (American, 1899-1984). The lower margin is inscribed with the title in calligraphic script and a summary of Jones's record-breaking 285 strokes.
