"We believe golf fans and historians in years to come will recognize the Ben Hogan Cup at first glance," David B. Hueber, President and CEO of the Ben Hogan Company stated in 1992. Here is your first glance, and this description will aid those not already familiar with it. "While the cup beckons a new breed of golfer, its appearance is reminiscent of many awards Ben Hogan captured early in his remarkable career. In creating the custom designed cup, Hogan Company and PGA Tour officials consulted Mr. Hogan (himself) and visited the legendary golfer's trophy room at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, TX.," The PGA Tour's 1992 Ben Hogan Tour media guide explained its inception in part. Deane R. Beman, World Golf Hall of Famer and then PGA Tour Commissioner, added, "We wanted a timeless design, and one that would communicate the prestige that the Ben Hogan Tour's name implies." Here is The Hogan Cup, the prized perpetual trophy that was annually presented to the champion at the conclusion of the Panama City Beach Classic and a fixture in the host club Hombre Golf Course trophy cabinet from 1990-1992. Carefully engraved with the Ben Hogan Tour Logo on the cup, there are two basebands around the tiers exhibiting the tournament and its champions. These were presented and held by the clubs of the initially 30 tour stops, with the accompanying reference photo with both the aforementioned Ben Hogan and Deane R. Beman sitting alongside another example of the stunning hardware that is offered here. Produced by Colonial Pewter by Boardman, this massive trophy stands 26" tall and weighs over 11lbs with a base diameter of 8 1/2."
