Antique J.H. Taylor Eskit Model Hickory Shaft Putter by Gibson of Kinghorn
This antique hickory-shafted putter was manufactured in Great Britain and bears the signature of legendary English professional golfer J.H. Taylor, a five-time winner of The Open Championship. The hand-forged steel clubhead is a blade-style putter featuring a solid rustless finish. The face of the club displays a centered rectangular pattern of punched circular dots for ball striking. The back of the clubhead is stamped with several identifiable marks, including a five-pointed star containing the capital letter G, which is the cleek mark for the manufacturer William Gibson and Company of Kinghorn, Scotland. Additional stamped text includes the model name Eskit in stylized script, and block lettering reading MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN, HAND FORGED, and SOLID RUSTLESS. A large replica signature of J.H. Taylor is also prominently stamped on the head. The club is fitted with its period-appropriate tapered wooden hickory shaft and features a black, spiral-wrapped leather grip secured at the top and bottom.
