Antique Brodie and Murdoch Special Hand Forged Hickory Shaft Niblick Golf Club
This antique golf club is a high-lofted niblick dating from the early 20th century hickory era, attributed to the Scottish firm Brodie and Murdoch of Montrose. The club features a hand-forged iron head with a rounded profile and a hand-punched dot-patterned face. A distinctive decorative feature is the nicked hosel, which contains vertical ridges where the metal meets the wood. The club is fitted with a traditional hickory wood shaft and a period-style brown leather wrap grip. The reverse of the club head bears several stamps: the word SPECIAL is centered in uppercase block letters. Below it is a circular mark with the words WARRANTED along the top arc and HAND FORGED along the bottom arc, surrounding a central five-pointed star cleek mark. Faint characters above the word SPECIAL appear to read B and M.
