A Collection of Nine Commemorative Glazed Stoneware Golf Club Makers' Mark Tiles for the Golf Collectors' Society
This collection consists of nine commemorative glazed stoneware tiles produced for the Golf Collectors' Society (GCS) between 1973 and 1988. Each piece was created by Vermont potter and GCS member Patrick Kennedy to honor early golf club manufacturers. The tiles feature relief-molded reproductions of historic club makers' marks. Included is a one-page informational sheet titled GCS Annual Meeting Tiles which provides a chronological history and distribution details for these items.
The tiles in this collection represent the following makers and years:
1973 J. McEwan featuring a thistle mark and grey-brown glaze.
1974 R. Forgan featuring the Prince of Wales feathers mark and dark brown glaze.
1975 G. Nicoll featuring the Hand of Peace mark and yellow-tan glaze, with GCS '75 incised on the reverse.
1978 A.G. Spalding featuring a circular baseball-themed mark and dark brown glaze.
1981 J. MacGregor featuring an oval mark with a shamrock and mottled brown glaze.
1982 Burke Golf Co. featuring a hand holding a scale and dark brown glaze.

1986 Hillerich & Bradsby Co. featuring a circular H&B mark and tan glaze.
1988 P.G. Manufacturing Co. featuring an anvil mark and two-tone tan and brown glaze.
Most tiles feature an incised PK mark for Patrick Kennedy on the reverse.
