1971 Ryder Cup Team Official Bullion Blazer Patch
This is an official commemorative team blazer patch from the 1971 Ryder Cup. The shield-shaped crest is constructed with intricate hand-embroidered gold bullion wire and multi-colored thread on a red felt ground. The central design features the crossed flags of the United States and Great Britain, flanking a detailed representation of the Ryder Cup trophy in gold bullion. The top of the patch is embroidered with RYDER CUP in blue and silver-tone thread, while 1971 TEAM is embroidered at the base in gold bullion. The patch is finished with a heavy, double-twisted gold bullion wire border. The reverse is covered with a black fabric backing featuring hand-applied characters in white that read LT - 12, with faint, illegible marks visible directly below. This style of high-quality bullion crest was historically issued to players, captains, and team officials for use on their official team blazers. The 1971 Ryder Cup took place at Old Warson Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri.
