1930 US Amateur Golf at Merion FINAL ROUND Ticket w/ String - Day Bobby Jones Wins Grand Slam! - Seldom Seen

It's hard to believe that this ticket was there the very day Bobby Jones won the Grand Slam in 1930! Proudly presented in our November 2026 offering is this FINAL ROUND ticket to Bobby Jones' Grand Slam 1930 US Amateur - the fourth and final major. With just one example in the PSA population report graded Authentic, the winning bidder's chance at a pop 1 for one of the most important tournaments in golf history is a real possibility. The new discovery was uncovered from the estate of local socialite, sportswriter and acquaintance of Bobby Jones, Corinne Elizabeth 'Betty' Hardesty, consigned by her great nephew. On this date, September 27, 1930, Bobby Jones completed the Grand Slam - winning all four majors in the same calendar year. Both golf and ticket collectors know the significance to this September 27th ducat. A collision of scarcity (only one we have ever seen) and demand leave this vibrant red #325 ticket in rarified air.

George Trevor sportswriter for the New York Sun would phrase Jones' four Major triumphs in 1930 as such, "stormed the impregnable quadrilateral of golf." This is one of the tougher golf tickets to locate in any condition, and like Jones' performance in 1930, this one excels. Ticket remains in near mint condition with strong black printing and tight edges. The Merion red bell-shaped ticket comes with its original string similar in condition to its original issuing almost exactly 90 years ago when it was purchased for $2.50 to gain admission. 'Merion Cricket Club - Ardmore Avenue, Ardmore Pa.' is written in black print on the front of the ticket. AG Spalding & Bros. included an advertisement on the reverse. There is very little overall wear, with a small mark on the verso and crease on backside bottom. Please see several photos to the left which will give the bidder a better understanding of this seldom seen ticket. This ticket is a remarkable survivor that has escaped the ravages of time. The gold standard for golf tickets and Bobby Jones collections. .
