1927 Benefit Exhibition Golf Match Press Pass Walter Hagen and Joe Kirkwood Springhaven Club
Walter Hagen and Joe Kirkwood traveled the world together at the golfing A-Listers that could entertain near and far. This 1927 press pass was issued for a benefit exhibition golf match held at the Springhaven Club in Wallingford, Pennsylvania, on Sunday, June 5, 1927. The shield-shaped badge is printed in green ink and features a prominent diagonal red PRESS stamp across the center. The match featured World Golf Hall of Fame member Walter Hagen and Bill Leach competing against trick-shot pioneer Joe Kirkwood and Andy Campbell. The front of the badge includes the event details, the text Proceeds To A Worthy Local Charity, and the instruction (WEAR THIS CARD). It is numbered No. 79 in red ink. The bottom edge bears the manufacturer mark for Globe Ticket Co., Phila. The reverse side contains a full-page advertisement for A.G. Spalding and Bros. Golfers' Headquarters, located at 1210 Chestnut Street. This advertisement includes a green graphic of a dimpled golf ball with the word SPALDING in the center and the slogan THE BALL THAT CHAMPIONS USE.
