1922 The Grip in Golf by Golfers Magazine Co. 1st Ed Book
This instructional golf volume, titled The Grip in Golf, was published in 1922 by the Golfers Magazine Co. of Chicago. The book is a hardbound in the publisher's original dark green cloth with the title stamped in gilt on the front board. It features contributions and technical demonstrations from several of the most prominent professional and amateur golfers of the early 20th century including Chick Evans, Harry Vardon, Francis Ouimet, Walter Hagen, George Duncan, John Duncan Dunn, J. H. Taylor, Edward Ray, Jock Hutchison, Harold Hilton, and more. The text is supplemented by numerous black-and-white photographic plates illustrating various grip methods and swing positions, such as the Evans Grip and positions at the finish of the swing for both Evans and Hagen. A dedicated section toward the end of the volume is titled The Grip for Women and includes a photographic plate of Miss Marion Hollins, the Woman’s National Champion. According to the preface, this work was intended as the first in a series of books published by Golfers Magazine covering different phases of the game.
