Winnie Palmer Award Presented To Gary Player - 2015
It was announced that Gary Player would receive the prestigious Winning Palmer Award at the 2015 Metropolitan Golf Writers Association's 64th National Awards Dinner in New York. Determining qualities and factors that were deemed deserving of the award included The Player Foundation's international emphasis on providing quality education, nutrition, medical care and extra-curricular activities for underprivileged children. The Metropolitan Golf Writers Association website speaks about the award and its important meaning as follows.
"The Winnie Palmer Award acknowledges an individual who has consistently given their time, energy and enthusiasm to those less fortunate. The Award is named in honor of Winnie Palmer, who devoted much of her life to charity work for literacy programs and health care. Past recipients include Barbara Nicklaus, Dolores Hope, Vivienne Player, Betsy King, Peggy Kirk Bell, and Ernie Els. Created by the Metropolitan Golf Writers Association in 2000, the Winnie Palmer Award has been sponsored by Rolex Watch USA since its inception." A signed letter from the family comes with this lot.
Player's Winnie Palmer Award trophy in the form of a golden eagle on a cylindrical marble plinth is proudly presented here, with an accompanying plaque engraved "Winnie Palmer Award Presented to Gary Player June 2015." This fine Gary Player original was obtained from a Player family member. Gary Player the golfer often wore his philanthropist hat and continues to do so to this day.

AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
Place your bids now as this auction will close LOT BY LOT beginning at 10:00pm EDT Sunday, May 22nd. When placing your INITIAL bid in the auction, you must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your bid. All items with multiple bidders in the auction will be eligible for the extended bidding period. Each lot will have its OWN COUNTDOWN CLOCK set for a 30-minute interval, and the clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will automatically close at 10pm EDT
4. All available lots will begin closing on a LOT BY LOT basis at 10pm EDT
**Once extended bidding starts at 10pm EDT, each lot will then begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you**
