Robert Forgan St. Andrews Forganite Brassie
Robert Forgan was the nephew of Fife clubmaker Hugh Philp. Robert joined Philp in the clubmaking business in the year 1852. Forgan had great skill in working with and identifying quality wood for club-making. Forgan took over the business and employed his younger brother James to assist after his Uncle's death. In 1863 Forgan was appointed as clubmaker to the Prince of Wales. This club features the head stamps "Robert Forgan St Andrews Forganite" as well as a shaft stamp that reads "R. Forgan & Son - St Andrews - Selected". This brassie measures 41" from bottom of whipping to end.
