Hal Sutton's 1998 TOUR Championship at East Lake GC Winning Official Scorecards

Offered here are Hal Sutton's 1998 Tour Championship at East Lake GC winning official scorecards for each of the four rounds: Thursday (69), Friday (67), Saturday (68), and Sunday (70). The culmination of the 1998 PGA Tour schedule would be played by only the top 30 deserving players at a familiar host site in Atlanta, Georgia's East Lake Golf Club. Hal Sutton played victor at the Texas Open slightly more than a month prior on September 27th, with a narrow one stroke win. Sudden Death with playing partner Vijay Singh would decide The 1998 Tour Championship after both tallying 274 strokes through the four rounds. Hall Sutton's 4-wood approach at the nerving 240 yard par 3 18th hole set it up and a confident putt with the ball settling at the bottom of the cup for the finish. The significance of this tournament would go beyond winning the final playoff event, as his second victory of the year would be the deciding factor for his 1998 PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year award campaign. These four scorecards were carried, scored and signed by fellow major winners, markers Payne Stewart, Vijay Singh, Tom Lehman and Lee Janzen. Winning scorecards from major and Tour championships do not come to auction routinely, take advantage of this set from one of Sutton's career highlights and Bobby Jones' home course of East Lake. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
