c.1929 Walter Hagen Concave Sand Wedge Pat-D 1695598 Ladies w/LW & Shaft Sticker Remnants
This Walter Hagen Concave Sand Wedge is one of the most popular hickories to be found in any club collection. This sand wedge with leather grip is in good condition and will add nicely to every collection. Usually containing medium to heavy oxidation, this example with the 'LW' stamp remains in good to very good condition with strong stamping as shown in the accompanying lot photos. Hagen's 11 Major championships rank third behind Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods for most on the all-time list, retiring in the number 1 spot. The shaft still contains original sticker remnants just below the grip in which you can just barely make out the H and n in Hagen, a nod to the club's preservation over what is now nearly a century. The LW stands for ladies wedge, a less common variant of this club.
