c.1923 Worthington Blue Bird Golf Ball Compression Mold
Heavy, industrial Worthington Blue Bird golf ball compression molds designed to produce a dimpled surface pattern. The exterior is finished with a polished surface, now showing significant oxidation and wear from use. A vertical alignment notch is machined into the outer edge of both halves to ensure proper orientation when closed. Small holes are present near the flat mating faces, serving as alignment pin sockets or vents for the molding process.
The top face of each mold bears a rectangular cream-colored adhesive paper label with handwritten text in blue ink. The label on the left mold reads WORTHINGTON BLUE BIRD 1923 150.00. The label on the right mold also reads WORTHINGTON BLUE BIRD 1923 ..
