c.1921 Arthur A. Kraeuter Pendulum Putter
Arthur A. Kraeuter secured a patent for this design of the 'Pendulum Putter' in 1921. The near center-shafted required a thicker heel and thinner toe to allow the sweet spot to be directly under the hosel/shaft line. The Newark, New Jersey inventor's work carries the diagonal 'Pendulum Putter' stamp towards the toe of its face. The shaft continues with a ridge on the backside of the putter. During a time of innovation, this was a unique attempt at fixing putting woes that of course did not have longevity and thus a collectors' club is born. It remains in good condition, with no visible markings on the backside of the head and strong stampings on the face. 34"
