c.1860 James Anderson General Iron
James Anderson of Anstruther, Fife was part of the inaugural class of eight blacksmiths to add their stamp on the finished clubs coming out of their shop. This club contained just that, however has since succumb to aging and oxidation. Notice both the depth and size of this iron, much larger than that of 1880's and later examples. It was the design prior to the game improvement trend forcing improvement modifications. There is a pin just below the grip and while showing some overall wear partnering with the design's shape both consistent with its vintage. 38 1/2"
