W. M Gibson Scotland Kinghorn 'Cosby' Iron w/ 20 Holes
Stampings are found on backside of the head towards both the toe and heel to make an area for the twenty holes (five by four) that were professionally and originally drilled and finished in a refined fashion with appropriate aging inside during the final stages of the club's production. Warranted Hand Forged Made In Scotland are found on either side, with some engraving loss that likely wasn't avoidable with the combination of hole quantity and engraving count. William Gibson & Co of Scotland, Kinghorn along with the cursive 'Cosby' and a star are also found on the back of the head towards nose and heel. The version of this club without the holes drilled in include all of the engravings of horizontal orientation and in the middle section of the head. 'Cosby' is Edwin Cosby who was an innovator in this space patenting both a cane shaped shaft and stitched leather grip. It was produced to escape water or sand, with 20 holes drilled in four rows of five. Stampings remain strong, with the club in good condition sans the original grip and remnants all that remain. 37 1/2".
