Vtg. Pair of Matching MS Rodenberg Co Art Deco SilverTone Golf Themed Cigarette & Match Safes
Here is a pair of silvertone metal personal accessories manufactured by the M.S. Rodenberg Co. of Providence Rhode Island. The lot includes a rectangular cigarette case and a smaller companion case possibly intended as a matchbox cover or vestpocket box. Both items feature vertical engineturned linear decoration on the exterior. Each is accented with an applied oval medallion containing a blackfilled silhouette of a golfer at the completion of a swing. The larger cigarette case features notched corners and a decorative foliate border. The interior displays a circular perlage engineturned finish and contains a springloaded retention bar. The smaller case features rounded edges and a similar interior perlage finish with a small suspension loop attached at the top. The interior retention bar of the cigarette case is stamped with the manufacturer mark M.S.R. CO PROV. R.I. The cigarette case ( 3 x 3 ½” and the
match case (2 ¼ x 1 ¾”) feature matching golfers and display
nicely together.
