Vintage Walter Hagen & Olin Dutra US Open Champions Wood Foldable Stool/Seat - Depictions & Signatures
On the broad side of this wooden golf seat with great eye appeal you sill see black and white smiling headshots of US Open champions Walter Hagen and Olin Dutra, surrounded by a vibrant red and blue "United States Golf Champions" design and the gentlemen's wins below their names just below. Engraved just below the handle into the seat in keeping with the celebration of the two golf stars are dark facsimile signatures of each Hagen and Dutra in the wood. Walter Hagen (1892-1969), the first giant of American golf who captured 11 Majors and helped raise professional golf to never previously seen levels. Then recent US Open champion Olin Dutra won his first career Major at the 1932 PGA Championship and then followed it up with a victory at the 1934 US Open, while battling a nasty amoebic dysentery infection. Golf seats have evolved as the game has, with the four-legged cloth and metal seat a more common sight on the links today. Some slight expected wear is present on the graphics, with each photo and the overall design still presenting well as depicted in the accompanying lot photos. Uncommon is it to find this piece in this condition, with the blue painted round "doughnut" at the base for stabilization. Stands 29 3/4" tall, seat is 11" long by max 4 1/8" wide.
