Vintage Tom Morris Splice Neck Brassie Club
Here is a splice neck club boasting the stamp of Old Tom Morris on its crown. Narrowly defeated in the initial British Open Championship in 1860,"Old Tom" went on to win four of the first eight Open's (1861,62,64,67). On the heels of that success he served as Greenskeeper at St. Andrews from 1865-1904.He played in every British Open to 1896 when he was was 75 years old. An accomplished ball and club maker, "Old Tom" gained much acclaim for his design work with Royal County Down, Lahinch in Ireland and of course Muirfield to his credit. He passed away in 1908 and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1976. This club is in fair to good condition, with a legible stamp and measures 40" from the top of the grip to the bottom of the heel.
