Vintage Los Angeles Country Club (L.A.C.C.) Hole 11 Tee Marker - Circa 1950's
The Los Angeles Country Club in Beverly Hills dates its club history to 1897 with the current location in play since 1911. The North Course was the site of the first Los Angeles Open in 1926 and subsequent events in 1934-36 and 1940. Most recently, it was the host of the 2023 US which saw Wyndham Clark claim victory. Known for its highly selective membership and reputation, it is on one of the most exclusive golf clubs in the country. This vintage tee marker from Hole 11 at LACC, part the same 'DWG No E 322' cast as was the only other previous example (from the Frank Stranahan Collection) which was dated May 1953, and purportedly used on the North Course until the 1970's. Constructed of heavy cast iron by Cole Electric Co., it features a bold red and green flag design with raised white lettering reading “LACC HOLE 11 YDS 197 PAR 3.” The back is marked with the manufacturer and drawing number. Measuring in a flag-shaped form, this marker is only the second one we have seen. It remains in excellent condition considering its age and usage as shown in the accompanying lot photos.
