Vintage Bob MacDonald Model Stainless Steel 1-Iron with Hickory Shaft
This Bob MacDonald Model 1-iron golf club features a stainless steel head and a hickory wood shaft, dating from the transitional period of the 1920s to 1930s. The back of the club head displays several stamped markings, including STAINLESS STEEL vertically along the toe and 1 IRON along the top rail. The center of the head is stamped with the word MATCHED above a Bob MacDonald cursive signature and the word MODEL. A small orange diamond-shaped icon is inlaid to the right of the signature. The face of the club features horizontal scoring lines and a central circular stamp containing the words STAINLESS STEEL around a five-pointed star. A decorative band of stamped chevron patterns is located on the metal hosel where it meets the wood. The hickory shaft is fitted with a brown leather wrap grip secured with a black cap at the butt end. This club is associated with Bob MacDonald, a prominent Scottish-American professional golfer and teacher active during the 1910s and 1920s. 37 1/2"
