Vintage 1905 Match Safe Depicting Harry Vardon Post Swing - W. & E. Turner Ltd.

In an early advertising effort footwear company W. & E. Turner Ltd. Used a post swing image of leading golfer and member of the original Big Three, the Great Triumvirate, Harry Vardon. Match safes were a common advertising vehicle at the turn of the century, with this being a fine example. Vardon won the Open Championship six times and the US Open once on his way to becoming a member of the inaugural 1974 World Golf Hall of Fame class. This two-sided match safe is in good condition, with only slight blemishes on the reverse. 1 1/2" x 2 1/4."
