Vinny Giles Collection
A testimony to both greatness and longevity, the highly decorated golf champion Vinny Giles remains the only individual to claim all three prestigious tournament titles: US Amateur, British Amateur, and US Senior Amateur. Clean cut, with wispy hair parted to the left and sideburns just long enough to keep up with the times, the University of Virginia law student represented the state (and country) quite admirably on the largest stages of amateur golf both stateside and across the pond. The Virginia State Amateur tournament crowned the new champion in 1962, one yet to celebrate his twentieth birthday. Giles' name would, however, become an old and recognizable one soon and increasingly with each turning of the calendar. Vinny claimed a remarkable seven Virginia State Amateur titles and his final state win 25 years later after his first, in 1987. The three-time All-American at University of Georgia would top the scoreboard at the 1972 US Amateur and 1975 British Amateur, prior to earning the Low Amateur honors at the memorable 1968 Masters and 1973 US Open. The popular United States team member was chosen for four Walker Cups and a non-playing captain in 1993 culminating in four victorious efforts, along with going a perfect three for three in his Eisenhower Trophy team appearances. The 1990 Crump Cup winner at Pine Valley has remained in the golf industry as the owner and president of a golf management firm that represents World Golf Hall of Famers Tom Kite, Davis Love III, Lanny Wadkins, Meg Mallon, and Beth Daniel. The Golf Auction is proud to announce it will present The Vinny Giles Collection, happily still living in Virginia.
