Ty Cobb Signed 1930 Personal Augusta, Georgia Check #702 To Southern Railway
On an Augusta, Georgia based personal check from the Georgia Peach himself is this Tyrus 'Ty' R. Cobb signed and underscored check from two days prior to Christmas in 1930, during the winter in which he moved into his Spanish ranch in the millionaire community Atherton a nine-iron from San Francisco, California. Cobb and Bobby Jones were cut from the same cloth, Georgia-born sports luminaries that found success in their early twenties. Each extremely competitive, with passion that occasionally even went a little further than it maybe should have (see Bobby Jones at St Andrews in 1921). Ty Cobb wrote this personal check to the Southern Railway for $29.35, signed on the line with his full name signature.
