Two Vintage Golf Periodicals. Golf Illustrated and Golfers Magazine, July 1927.
This lot consists of two original vintage golf publications, both issued in July 1927. The first item is Golf Illustrated, Volume 27, Number 4, published by Golf Illustrated Inc. at 425 Fifth Avenue, New York. The pictorial wrappers list featured articles including Golfing in Canada by George Girard, The National Open at Oakmont by Kerr N. Petrie, and The International Matches by William Henry Beers. The back cover features a full-page color advertisement for Camel cigarettes. The second item is Golfers Magazine, Volume 52, Number 1, published by the Golfers Magazine Company, Chicago. The cover highlights the beginning of a new series of articles by Ring Lardner, Francis Ouimet, and James J. Montague. This issue contains extensive photographic coverage of the inaugural 1927 Ryder Cup, including portraits of the victorious American team and the British team, as well as an article titled Americans Defeat British for Ryder Cup. Internal contents include period advertisements for Wilson golf equipment, Bristol steel golf shafts, St. Mungo Colonel golf balls, and high-end real estate listings in New York and England. The back cover features a full-page color lithographed advertisement for Murad Turkish cigarettes. Both issues are staple-bound in large quarto format with illustrated wrappers.
