Tony Jacklin & Others Signed 1969 Ryder Cup at Southport Dinner Menu from 'The Concession'
While this was traditionally titled a 'Victory Dinner' menu, the 1969 Concession was unquestionably a win for both teams and golf as the ultimate act of sportsmanship when Jack Nicklaus conceded a short putt to foe Tony Jacklin on the final hole for the first ever tie in Ryder Cup history. Previous winner, the United States, retained the cup. 'My best always Tony Jacklin signed above his name on the cover of this September 20, 1969 dinner menu. Along with Jacklin was the gracious British team and some of the player's wives. Michael Bonallack, Bernard Gallacher, Christy O' Connor, Brian Barnes and more in time-period ballpoint pen. The 1969 Ryder Cup ended in a draw at 16 points each, when Jack Nicklaus conceded his putt to Tony Jacklin. Presented here is a choice example of the dinner menu from the tournament in excellent condition! This menu was PGA of America President Max Elbin's copy as noted in the upper left-hand corner.
