Tom Creavy Putting at the 1931 PGA Championship Wire Photo 9/19/31
This great wire photo comes from the 1931 PGA Championship which saw a 20 year old Tom Creavy defeat Gene Sarazen 5 & 3 in the semifinals and Denny Shute(defeated defending champ Tommy Armour in quarterfinals) 2 & 1 in the finals. Then a match play format consisting of 12 rounds (216 holes) to be played in six days, the 20 year old had the strength to hold off legends of the game and claim victory at Wannamoisett CC. Sarazen remains the youngest winner of a PGA Championship title at age 20 (in 1922) and Creavy was just 2 months older. 8 1/4" x 6"
