Tiger Woods and his 1996 (rookie)-1999 caddy Mike 'Fluff' Cowen signed this 1996 Sports Illustrated cover in black sharpie with the highly desired time-period signatures. It was Tiger Woods' very first of 24 (and counting) Sports Illustrated covers and likely the best cover photography of him, a close shot post swing - pictured at the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational en route to his first victory. This highly sought after 'TIGER!' magazine is his "rookie card" in the category that continues to grow. As you might have received, this is a subscription issue cover that has been matted to board for presentation.
Tiger's resurgence is that of a fictional storybook. Returning to win the 2018 Tour Championship and then the 2019 Masters to turn back the hands of time and bring a whole new generation of Tiger collectors into the mix. It was with a triumphant raise of the putter millions were having flashbacks of 22 years ago, when a 21 year old Tiger Woods won his first Masters Tournament in just his third try. He was greeted by his son off of the 18th green in 2019, reminiscent of the memorable scene with 'Pops' in 1997. He would appropriately receive Sports Illustrated cover duties for both wins. Beckett has reviewed this signature and their letter of authenticity comes with this lot, with a slight delay due to processing time.
