Tiger Woods' United States Team Issued 2009 The President's Cup Official Headcovers
The gold standard for authentication of game and tournament-used memorabilia is photo matching evidence putting the same item in a time and place of significance. While we are uncertain to what extent Tiger Woods used these headcovers, we can say for certain that these were his, custom produced and presented by the 2009 United States President Cup team to Tiger Woods. A design match for both the red and white set containing 1, 3 and X American flag headcovers and his embroidered 'Tiger Woods' script in white stitched below the starts and stripes and 'USA' are located in this lot, each from the 2009 contest. The four photos for reference include Sean O'Hair's personalized head cover of precisely the same design, also photographically detailed. At the time of the Harding Park playing, Tiger Woods was back on top of the golf world, with the 33-year-old official ranking #1 and fellow contestant 39-year-old Phil Mickelson #2. What a time for golf. In Tiger Woods' 6th playing of the international Presidents Cup matches, Eldrick would add a perfect 5-0-0 record to his existing 13-11-1 lifetime record. Revenge was best served cold on Sunday (6&5) for Tiger Woods, dismantling the 2009 PGA Championship victor Y.E. Yang only weeks prior. The words 'Tiger' and 'gamer' don't usually come in the same sentence, and when they do its often a five or six digit price tag. Give this lot extra attention, as it is deserving of such.
