Best recounted by the individual that personally received this very red and black Nike hat from Tiger Woods after the 1998 Doral Open who went by J.P. The signed and dated letter of provenance with a photo of this time-period hat with the time-period signature reads as below.
In 1998 I attended the Doral Ryder Open which I used to go to every year. My grandfather lives in the Doral Community and has the Blue Monster in his backyard literally. We would attend every year with the complimentary passes he would get. This particular year was if I recall correctly Tiger's first appearance in the Blue Monster, so I was particularly excited to visit the event to see him as he has gathered plenty of attention nationwide. On Sunday the last day of the tournament, I happened to get a glimpse of him as he was wrapping up and followed him until he putted his last shot. As he was walking off the field heading to the conference tent, I approached him to ask for his autograph. He asked for my name and I told him JP, and he handed the Nike cap he wore that day over to me after he signed it. I was in shock with what I got, and was excited for days after the event. I am glas the cap is going to an avid collector as yourself and hope it is kept in good condition for years to come - Juan Pablo Possenti." Tiger would go on to record a top-10 finish this week (9th) after a 73 in his 1998 Sunday final round and win the Miami, Florida based Doral Open in 2005 and 2006.
