Tiger Woods Signed Personal Owned & Used Junior Golf Club Driver JSA #
The highly anticipated 2021 HBO Original titled 'Tiger' documented the polarizing Tiger Woods' life both on and off the golf course, from a two-year-old on prime-time television's 'The Mike Douglas Show' through production date - detailing his series of comebacks from injuries and adversity. Never-before-seen footage of Tiger at his childhood home, alongside his father Earl, mother Kultida and high school girlfriend Dina Gravell was included in the first of two parts. Close with his immediate family, no brothers or sisters, Tiger became almost equally as close for those years with Gravell's family - Dina now married and going by the name Dina Parr. Dina's aunt Annette and cousin Matthew visited her in Anaheim, California from Las Vegas, Nevada multiple times during that period, Tiger eating dinners and spending time with them as well.
In 1993 the 17-year old Tiger Woods, then three-time US Junior Amateur champion, brought his own personal junior golf club to his girlfriend Dina's cousin Matthew's 5th birthday party - showcased in the lot before you. Matt had recently started playing golf. Tiger, Annette, Dina and her dad were hitting balls around in their front yard when Tiger went to his car to retrieve the club for Matt's "private birthday lesson" from the yet to be golf great. They finished and Woods handed Matthew this club and said 'Happy Birthday.' "It was a very sweet and endearing moment," Dina remembers.
The signed letter of provenance from Tiger's high school girlfriend Dina Parr (Gravell) recalling the story in detail accompanies this junior-size 30" long Lynx driver that Woods' would graciously sign when he was back in the Las Vegas area in 1996 at The Invitational, along with eventually the ball he used - also up for auction in a different lot this 2024 April offering. Dina's grandma remembered that with her husband and Matthew they waited patiently in the gallery until Woods teed off at 1 and then approached Tiger, but not before security stopped them. Tiger saw this and waved them through, signing the club and after the hole the 'TIGER' ball that he used on 1. Time flies and in just three years Tiger had gone from a high school golfer to a PGA Tour champion. This junior-size club was used by Woods a decade or so before gifting to Matthew, but not before his first appearance on national television and taste of the spotlight - with his father Earl and Bob Hope and carrying his own set. That child prodigy changed the game. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their FULL letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
