Tiger Woods Signed Nike GMO Greater Milwaukee Open Hat w/Tags
"I Guess Hello World." The well chronicled Tiger Woods story has had many twists and turns, with many of the lows creating even higher highs. Triumph and tribulation. These four words were said with a youthful smile at the eve presser of his professional debut at the 1996 Greater Milwaukee Open by the then 3-time US Amateur champion. In front of a vintage Miller Lite logo tournament backdrop the first of many iconic professional moments occurred - a great start to the week in which 20-year-old Tiger Woods' second highlight would come during the final round Sunday with a 1 on the scorecard for hole #14 in which we auctioned in March commanding a robust sum of $125k.
Sometime during that whirlwind of a week, Tiger Woods signed this 'Greater Milwaukee Open' logo Nike hat with his flawless 1996 time-period black sharpie marker in large format on the front of the brim. While undated, this is sourced from a gentleman that was there on the scene that week and had the foresight and access to obtain signatures from the young pro on both this hat and a matching logo ball, one of the final that Tiger would sign. This hat remains with Nike tags intact and the only small blemish, to nitpick, slight discoloration spot on the bottom of brim from handling and not affecting signature or presentation. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
