Tiger Woods Signed 2006 PGA Championship at Medinah Tournament Flown 9th Hole Flag
Flown on hole 9 at Medinah Course #3 as Tiger Woods the 2006 PGA Championship, his second major in just four weeks, was this actual 2006 PGA Championship tournament-used flag taken off the stick following Woods' twelfth major at the round age of 30! Hole 9 was a par 4 - 435 yard hole with a treacherous dogleg left at the time of play. The 2006 Open Championship and then this. The smart money was on the Big Cat that week who like a nice spring day stayed in the 60's - all four rounds. Woods would finish five shots ahead of runner-up Shaun Micheel. It was anything but a 'Miracle.' This system-shocking yellow screen-printed flag with the black '9' just to the right of the green, white, red and gold tournament logo with 'PGA Championship 2006' in uppercase encircling the top portion centering the Wanamaker Trophy with a bannered 'Medinah' underline. Just below this centered with purpose is Tiger Woods' flawless, robust black marker signature perfectly positioned. Performed with ideal formation, it is clear that Woods was careful and likely sitting down when penning this flag of great importance. '88th PGA Championship' in uppercase black runs across the bottom to surround the signature in composition. Very subtle signs of wear are found on this Tiger-winning major championship flag, including the white branded cloth tag cut from the back fabric around the intact mounting tube from 20 years ago as depicted in the accompanying lot photos.
As Tiger had entered is next decade of life at 30, Woods had won an even dozen major championships! This is the only Tiger Woods signed, tournament-used winning PGA Championship flag we have ever offered - the scarcest of Tiger Woods pin flags and unbelievably hot sub-category of collecting. It is also only the third from one of his major wins, most recently a flag from the 2005 Open Championship realizing $16,303 in December of last year.
