Tiger Woods Signed 1st Hole of 1st Rd of 1st Win at Las Vegas Inv. Golf Ball JSA #
Of historical importance from the game or tournament-used hobby category personal 'TIGER' Titleist signed 'Professional 90' sharpie marked ball that Tiger Woods used on the first hole, of the first round of his FIRST WIN at the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational - with a signed letter of provenance from Woods' high school girlfriend Dina's grandparents and nephew recalling that memorable moment!
Tiger's first of a record 82 has a nice ring to it, but when Woods handed this ball after the first hole of the 1996 Las Vegas Invitational at TPC Summerlin to Dina's nephew Matthew the victory was anything but a forgone conclusion. It turned out to be the 20-year-old Tiger Woods' professional golf coming out party complete with a posed photo between two local Vegas Ballys' Jubilee dancers, an official warning to the field of arrival. While the win came only a month and change after turning professional, Tiger's first victory was no easy task as the challenging course saw Woods and Davis Love III enter a sudden death playoff to determine the victor. Going into the tournament spectators did not know the importance of what many considered another stop on the tour schedule prior.
The signed letter of provenance from Tiger's high school girlfriend Dina Parr's (Gravell) grandparents and nephew recalling the story in detail accompanies Tiger Woods' personal used 1996 Las Vegas Invitational 'TIGER' Titleist Professional 90 golf ball that he graciously put sharpie to after the hole. The 1996 time-period signature on the ball was obtained at the same time Tiger Woods signed his junior Lynx driver golf club on the crown (the first hole), also in this auction. Dina's grandma remembered that with her husband and Matthew they waited patiently in the gallery until Woods teed off at 1 and then approached Tiger, but not before security stopped them. Tiger saw this and waved them through, signing the club and after the hole his signed ball that he used that hole. Showcased in this lot is the tournament used and signed ball by Tiger Woods from his first shot (!) in the first round (!) of his first win (!) - fitting that it is the first time publicly offered! James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their FULL letter of authenticity #YY70394 comes with this lot.
