Three Sketches of Proposed 1941 Ryder Cup Winning Team's Award - Gold & Diamond Ring
The WWII 1941 Ryder Cup Challenge matches took place between Walter Hagen's Ryder Cup Team and Bobby Jones' Challengers. During the war with Ryder Cup competition put on hold, exhibition matches brought together the greatest players of the era, including amateur Bobby Jones, who led his team to an 8½-6½ upset of the Walter Hagen led Ryder Cup Team, Aug. 23-24, 1941, at Detroit Golf Club. The makeshift Ryder Cup tournament included planning efforts from many, including the artist that proposed three different designs for the winning team's gold and diamond rings. These are hand sketched and two include multiple angles, all in color. Detailed in nature, two of the three include the year 1941 in the designs shown.
