The Memorial Tournament 2001 Honoree Payne Stewart Commemorative Coin
The Memorial Tournament is themed each year around a person living or dead, who has contributed to the game of golf. This was tournament host Jack Nicklaus' idea as a contribution to perpetuating achievements of the game's greatest individuals. In 2001 Payne Stewart was a posthumous honoree. Each year a limited edition coin measuring 1 3/4" diameter is pressed and distributed to players and dignitaries attending the Memorial. Needless to say the coin honoring the ever popular Payne, which comes in its original display case, is almost as popular with collectors as the man himself.
