Crystal clear 8x10 original photograph of the 1947 United States Ryder Cup Team that is head and shoulders above the rest. Image on time-period paper carries signatures of 12 contributors to the US Ryder Cup success on the photo curtesy of the local Art Commercial Studio Portland, Oregon. The 1947 Ryder Cup was the 7th edition of the matches which had been suspended due to World War II since last played in 1937. They were contested at the Portland Golf Club and saw the U.S. squad captained by Ben Hogan dominate, posting an 11-1 triumph which was the largest margin of victory every amassed in the early era format of 12 points. This remarkable photo has been signed by a dozen members of the U.S. team and others carrying weight including: Craig Wood, Jimmy Demaret, Ben Hogan, Walter Hagen, Byron Nelson, Herman Keiser, Hermon Baron, Ed 'Porky' Oliver, Herman Keiser, Lloyd Mangrum, Lew Worsham, Sam Snead, and one other. in a prized era of U.S. Ryder Cuppers this formal team photo contains the valued signatures of the best of the best. The verso contains the handwritten identifier, while it is mounted. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity (ALOA) comes with this lot.
