Stunning 1920's Hand Painted Nippon Humidor w/ Golf Bag & Clubs
This enamel porcelain lidded humidor or tobacco
jar was made by Nippon and bears their mark on
the bottom. Nippon" is the Japanese word for
"Japan" and was used as a backstamp on porcelain
exported to the United States between 1891 and
1921.
Stands 5” tall to the top of the lid and is 4 “inches in
diameter at its widest point. The beaded trimmed
lid matches the body of the jar wonderfully.
The beautiful hand painted scene consists of a golf
bag and clubs, with finely detailed features, lying
on its side against a mountain and landscape
background.
We have found a picture of this item on page 97 of
Golf the Golden Years by Baddiel. Very scarce and
collectible. 4" x 5 1/2"
