The Spalding Putter
An antique golf club featuring a smooth-faced metal head with a brass or bronze-toned finish. The reverse of the club head bears the stamped mark THE SPALDING in uppercase letters. The head is mounted to a wooden hickory shaft via a metal hosel secured with a visible pin. The grip is composed of a dark leather wrap in a spiral configuration, secured at the top and bottom with black cord whipping. This piece reflects the manufacturing style of the late 19th to early 20th century. 31".
The club presents in well-used antique condition. The metal head shows overall surface wear, pitting, and numerous small indentations on all surfaces. The wooden shaft displays a dark patina and minor surface marks. The leather grip shows wear and darkening consistent with age but remains secured by the whipping.
