Six (6) Various Vintage Golf Themed Sterling Silver Spoons
This collection consists of six English sterling silver spoons featuring various commemorative and sporting themes. The items are of British manufacture and bear hallmarks from the London and Birmingham assay offices. Spoon 1: Marked on the reverse of the bowl with the maker mark RP for Robert Pringle and Sons, the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard head for London, and the lowercase date letter r for 1912. The finial features intertwined letters SGC with Art Nouveau floral and scroll motifs on the stem. Spoons 2, 5, and 6: Marked on the reverse of the stems with the maker mark L and S in a three-lobed shield for Levi and Salaman, the lion passant, and the anchor for Birmingham. Spoons 2 and 5 bear the lowercase date letter v for 1920, and Spoon 6 bears the lowercase date letter y for 1923. The stems are stamped RD NO 579082 and are modeled as golf clubs with a ball and clubhead. The finials feature the letters CHGC, CHGC and SCC? Spoon 3: Marked on the reverse of the stem with the maker mark HS in a rectangular punch for Henry Stratford Ltd, the lion passant, the anchor for Birmingham, and the lowercase date letter e for 1904. The finial contains an ornate openwork monogram appearing to be RLY on a plain tapered stem. Spoon 4: Marked on the reverse of the stem with the maker mark WA in a rectangular punch for William Adams Ltd, the lion passant, the anchor for Birmingham, and the lowercase date letter m for 1911. The finial contains the letters ACG in a circular openwork frame. The back of the bowl is embossed with a figure of a golfer in mid-swing. The items are in good overall condition with minor surface wear and tarnishing consistent with age and use. 136 grams in weight.
