This three-volume set titled The United States Amateur: The History and Personal Recollections of Its Champions was published by Future Classics of Golf in 2005. The set is authored and edited by Peter Sheehan, whose name is stamped on the spines. The three hardcover volumes are bound in navy blue cloth, each featuring a color-coded vertical stripe on the left edge and spine reflecting the colors of the American flag: red for Volume I, white for Volume II, and dark blue for Volume III. The front covers and spines are stamped in silver with the title and volume number, and the covers are further accented with five gold-stamped trophy icons. The collection is housed in a black textured rigid slipcase featuring a gold-bordered United States flag and the dates 1895 and 2005 in gold. The work provides a comprehensive history of the U.S. Amateur Championship over its first 110 years. Volume I includes a foreword by Fred Ridley, and Volume III includes an afterword by Deane Beman. The set is profusely illustrated with black-and-white and color photography documenting the tournament's most notable champions, including Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, and Phil Mickelson, alongside images of tournament milestones and the Havemeyer Trophy.
