Seven (7) Vintage HGC Sterling Silver Spoons
92 Grams
A set of seven sterling silver spoons manufactured by the firm Deakin and Francis in Birmingham, England. The spoons feature ornate openwork handles decorated with scrolling foliate motifs and stylized shell terminals. The stems are bifurcated at the point where they meet the decorative terminals. Each spoon is finished with an oval bowl featuring a light gilt-wash interior.
The reverse of each bowl is struck with four distinct hallmarks: a square punch containing the letter D, a square punch containing the letter F, a lion passant indicating .925 sterling silver purity, an anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, and a lowercase stylized letter u within a clipped-corner shield, which corresponds to the year 1919.The spoons exhibit minor surface scratches and tarnish consistent with age and use. The gilt-wash finish on the interiors of the bowls shows light wear and thinning. There are no visible dents, bends, or evidence of repair.
