Royal Lytham & St Annes of Lancashire, England has hosted the Royal & Ancient Open Championship eleven times beginning in 1926 with the crowning of Bobby Jones. On the large pocket of this classic Maxfli DDH full-size bag are black sharpie signatures of twelve gentlemen who's lives changed forever when they were announced as 'Champion Golfer of the Year.' The penned lineup includes: Seve Ballesteros (full-signature), Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Greg Norman, Roberto De Vicenzo, Nick Price, Bob Charles, John Daly, Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Tom Lehman (x2). Royal Lytham St Annes past Open Champions: Ballesteros twice (1979 & 1988), Player (1974), Lehman (1996), Charles (1963). This shinny new old stock white, red and gold bag was obtained by Doug Sanders strictly for presentation of signatures from only men that once, twice, or in Peter Thomson's case, hoisted the Claret Jug five times. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot. A signed letter of provenance from The Doug Sanders Museum comes with this lot.
