Royal Doulton Kingsware 'Ye 19th Hole' Golf Pitcher & Coaster
OFFERED HERE IS A NICE COMBINATION OF A LARGE 9 “ ROYAL
DOULTON EARTHENWARE PITCHER AND A 4 ½” COASTER THAT
MATCHES THE DESIGN OF THE PITCHER.
THE COASTER FEATURES RAISED FIGURES OF A GOLFER DRINKING A
GLASS OF BEER WITH HIS CADDIE ALONGSIDE. THE UNDERSIDE IS
CAPTIONED “ YE 19 TH HOLE, ROYAL DOULTON.
Kingsware was produced between 1898 and 1939 and was the
brainchild of Charles Noke. The manufacturing process was
unique to Doulton and employed a technique that no other
factory has managed to replicate ever since. The unique effect
was achieved by painting the design in colored slips on the
inside of the plaster mold, before adding the dark brown slip
that would form the body of the piece.
These two pieces display excellently together.
