Roberts, Clifford. The Story of Augusta National Golf Club. Doubleday, 1976. First Edition (DJ)
This is a first edition of The Story of Augusta National Golf Club by Clifford Roberts, the long-time chairman and co-founder of the club alongside Bobby Jones. Published by Doubleday and Company, Inc. in 1976, this work provides an insider account of the club's founding, the construction of the course designed by Alister MacKenzie and Bobby Jones, and the evolution of the Masters Tournament. The volume is an octavo, bound in the publisher's dark cloth boards. It retains its original pictorial dust jacket, which features a color photograph of the iconic Augusta National clubhouse on the front and a black-and-white portrait of the author by Morgan Fitz on the rear. The interior is extensively illustrated with black-and-white photographic plates and reproductions of documents, including portraits of key figures like Bobby Jones, John W. Herbert, and Alister MacKenzie, as well as images of the Masters Club dinners and club plaques.
