Robert Forgan and Son St. Andrews Hickory Shaft Scareneck Wood Golf Club
This is an antique wooden-headed golf club, identified as a scareneck driver or play club, manufactured by Robert Forgan and Son of St. Andrews, Scotland. The club head is constructed from wood, likely beech or persimmon, and features a long-nose profile. It is joined to a hickory shaft via a traditional scareneck joint, consisting of a long, angled splice secured with black cord whipping. The crown of the club head is stamped with the maker name R. FORGAN in an arc above a stamped crown symbol. The inclusion of the crown mark signifies production after 1901, following the issuance of a Royal Warrant to the firm by King Edward VII. The club is finished with a tapered suede or leather wrap grip, secured at the top and bottom with additional cord whipping.
